Celebrate Pride Month with a tour of Kansas City's historic LGBTQ landmarks

As LGBTQ Pride Month kicks off, it’s a great time to celebrate all of the ways Kansas City promotes LGBTQ equality.

The city of Kansas City, Missouri, created the state of Missouri's very first LGBTQ Commission in And just last year, the city received a — a perfect score! — on the Human Rights Campaign’s Municipal Equality Index. Kansas City also promotes LGBTQ+ economic interests through the LGBT Mid-America Chamber of Commerce.

But Pride Month is so much more than a time for organizations and businesses to celebrate the LGBTQ community. It’s an opportunity to remember the resistance undertaken by groups that own long been marginalized by mainstream society.

LGBTQ Bar Association of Greater Kansas City is a nonprofit, (c)(6) membership association of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and allied legal community in the Kansas City metropolitan area.  We were formed in as Kansas City LEsbian, Gay, and Allied Lawyers (&#;KC LEGAL&#;).  In , we changed our name to LGBTQ Bar Association of Greater Kansas City for better alignment with our mission, which is inclusive of the entire LGBTQ community.

Law students, paralegals and other members of the legal profession are encouraged to become associate members.
