YOU BET YOUR ASS I DID
The story wasn't great, but I loved the beautiful animation! 😍
Cute as a kitten and just as comfortably ignorable after a limited minutes of doting, "Gay Purr-ee" was an unprofitable tuft of Disney-chasing animal-cartoon frivolity of the early '60s by the animation studio UPA that mostly did shorts before and after this, one of only two films they ever produced (the other was the even less well-known " Arabian Nights" featuring Jim Backus, not voicing Mr. Magoo).

A classic and a beautiful movie to view. To all the people saying "Change the gay part of the name", you're complete idiots. Back then gay meant adj and carefree. So learn your Word History because obviously no one's teaching it to you.

Please be aware that the synonyms "Gay" back then meant free, happy, and carefree. This movie was a cute animation film that almost look like it inspired rhe Aristocats. It's lighthearted nature makes it enjoyable for everyone young and old.

Gay Purr-ee ()
For some odd reason, animated films with singing cats must be set in France. As you see above this sentence, I am not writing on Wolfgang Reitherman's The Aristocats () released by Disney, but Abe Levitow's Gay Purr-ee, which - and this surprised me - predates The Aristocats by eight years. Though this film is most notable for Judy Garland's only role in an animated film, a crew including Looney Tunes regulars in voice actor Mel Blanc and Chuck Jones (co-writer with wife Dorothy Jones) and former Disney and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM) animators contributes to a film that fuses the styles of all three of those studios and foreshadows the beginning of the Dark Age of Animation (to my estimation, this Dark Age roughly begins around Disney's death in and ends in ) and the end of the Silver Age (approximately ). On its own merits, Gay Purr-ee is a solid animated film which is probably more mature than the title and plotline suggests.
Prepare for shameless cat puns (don't blame me, blame Chuck and Dorothy Jones!).
