Gay Men: Public Toilets?

Sevastopol1

Public toilets? I mean, what is that about? I myself contain some difficultly conceiving the erotic charge that these venues manifest to offer.

And that whole ‘peephole drilled in the cubicle wall’ thing? If you need to see a naked man and you are one, is there not an obvious and economical solution to that dilemma?

I contain a suspicion pissing people off is a significant motivation for this behaviour. Is that real, even if it comes only from aggressive indifference? And I can’t really see how anybody could let go normal decorum in that manner.

While I disclose to finding the phenomenon disturbing, this is in GQ rather than GD or BBQP because I am interested in factual answers only rather than feeding my initial impulse to announce in the BBQ - P. No disparagement of any gay community is intended.

Well first of all I would refute whole-heartedly the idea that it’s done with the intention of pissing people off; whilst it does have an effect on others its an unintentional consquence of the context (as a straight man you’re

Gay Bathroom Culture Question

Jophiel1

More back when I was a wee lad, but even on occassion now, I would observe messages scribed into the walls of public bathrooms that read:

Looking to give BJ

Red jacket by 3rd stall

Now then, since I wasn’t in the market to gave strange guys do that sort of thing to me, I can’t say I ever popped by at However, it seems to me that this is a better way to get the crap beat out of you than to get some sort of earthly delight. So, I figure…
(A) Gay bashers publish such notes in order to beat up those who illustrate up
(B) Gay people verb such notes and are beaten up by gay bashers who respond
© Both A & B occur, which would form for an interesting sight.
(D) Gay people post such notes and are met by other gay people and all is well.

Anyone know which of those was most frequent? Like I said, it seems like a hoax to me, but then I guess it was harder to meet homosexuals back then which would explain why you don’t see as many notes now (more acceptance). But even still, there’s got to be a better way. Oh well… such is the mind of white h

How did toilet cruising work?

I was reading an gay travel guide from , and it reminded me that I've never understood the mechanics of the toilet pick-up. One of the notable features of the guide is that among all the bars and bathhouses listed, many locations also suggest cruising toilets. This seems soinherently sketchy. How would you know when it was safe to signal to somebody? Don't you dash the constant risk of an embarrassing and dangerous confrontation? Act you actually have sex in the bathroom, or is a rendezvous point? And given that these locations are so adv established that they appear in a travel guide, wouldn't they be easy pickings for the police?

Any info or stories about etiquette and risk mitigation would be of interest.

Bonus points if you can explain how toilet cruising worked in an international context. After a strong warning about how dangerous cruising is in the Middle East, for example, the guide lists toilets in Syria and Kuwait. There are similar listings throughout the world. While cruising in the U.S.
